For Your Phoenix Wedding Reception - iPod or Wedding DJ?
The current economy has all of us trying to get the most for our money, and brides and grooms are no exception. A wedding DJ can be expensive. As an alternative, some wedding experts suggest that newlyweds can save money by replacing your wedding DJ with your iPod. Just as with any do-it-yourself project, you should be aware of what's involved before you start.
A professional wedding DJ does much more than show up with equipment and play music. Weeks before your wedding, your DJ will meet with you to share his expertise and help you create a timeline of reception events and a personalized soundtrack which reflects your musical tastes and style. Your DJ's extensive music library will be able to handle all requests and please guests of all ages. He will know what to play and when to play it to keep the dance floor filled. As your Master of Ceremonies, he will coordinate and announce all reception events so you and your guests can enjoy a fun-filled, smooth-flowing, stress-free experience.
Your professional wedding DJ will have back-up equipment on site just in case there's an equipment malfunction. Songs will be mixed seamlessly so there are no breaks or gaps between songs and the volume will be balanced from song to song. Your DJ will most likely be covered by business liability insurance if the sound equipment injures any of your guests or causes damage to the facility.
However, if you have a limited budget and are planning a casual, informal reception, you may feel that you do not need the services of a professional wedding DJ. With two iPods and some basic sound equipment you can create a mix of mellow music to be played during dinner and a mix of your favorite party tunes for dancing. If you already have most of your favorite music on your iPod, you can rent basic DJ equipment (a mixer and powered speakers) and have a friend take charge of playing your music.
Keep in mind, you won't have the experience and expertise a professional DJ provides. Reception events may not flow as smoothly as they would with a professional Master of Ceremonies. Some song requests may not be played and your guests may not always respond to the music you've chosen. At times, the music will probably be either too loud or too soft. And there may be gaps between songs which will diminish the energy of your reception. Most importantly, not entrusting your wedding reception music to a professional may add some stress to your special day. But you and your guests can still have fun and you will save some money.
